To Your Love

(From December 2008)

I never wanted to say goodbye
I thought our love was true
But now you won't even look me in the eye
And your memory sticks like glue

I had visions of us being together forever
Never letting each other go
But now my heart is severed
And to me your guilt you owe

I believed that you were different
Not just another boy
But our love has came and went
And you treated me like a toy

I thought that you were perfect
An angel, no less
But your apologies I'll have to reject
And to you I must transgress

I hope that you have learned
That you'll think before you act
But I really am concerned
And I'll leave my heart intact

I never wanted to say goodbye
I really hoped you'd stay
But now I guess I'll have to cry
And drown in my dismay

A Low Culture Manifesto

Go to college, get a job
never let them see you sob
Hide your feelings, live a lie
kiss all your childish dreams goodbye
Pray to God, worship money
laugh at jokes that are not funny
Buy a mansion, get five cars
don't wish upon the shooting stars
Pretend you're in love, try not to get hurt
ignore the lipstick stains you find on his shirt
Go to work, nine to five
act like you are still alive
Shut your eyes, close your mind
leave your hopes and dreams behind
Then late at night you can scream,
"Is this really the American dream?"

Philosophical Theories

The Five Minute Hypothesis:
Five minutes ago, the entire universe sprang into existance from absolutely nothing. Everything is exactly as it was at the time, traces of the so-called "past" written on the earth, with signs of age instantly formed.

Theory of Descartes:
We're all in an elaborate dream. Present life is one big delusion. Maybe a very powerful evil demon has us hypnotized to hold all the beliefs that we have, and to "see" and "hear" everything we believe we are now experienceing.

Nothing we know exists or ever has existed.

Give away your heart and throw away the key

Give away your heart and throw away the key
Just ignore your misery
Plaster on a mask and a fake smile
Pretend that living is actually worthwhile
Act like your world isn't falling apart
Forget about your breaking heart
Look at life through ignorant eyes
Complete the big, stupid disguise
Say you're sorry and pretend you're tough
Only perfection is good enough

(by the way)

Waves tumbled like wine in a glass,
Wearing their white crowns proudly as they fell over each other.
The ever-present sun reflected off the water,
Hanging from a milky sky.
A cool breeze carried a salty mist,
Clinging to everyone's skin.
Sandy toes got washed clean by a wave's leftovers,
Bringing about a fresh start.
Happiness embraced the people
As a busy world buzzed somewhere far away.
